A dialup connection to their own Internet Service Provider is all that is needed. Many of our clients also access the system through a network connection supplied by the hospital or laboratory.

LifePoint.Web solution employs 128-bit encryption in order to ensure that the information cannot be access from unauthorized parities. We also utilize firewalls, VPNs, intrusion detection systems, and physical security methods to protect and secure all confidential patient data.
LifePoint Informatics offers two models: Application Service Provider (ASP) and Hosted. Under the ASP delivery offering,
LifePoint takes care of the hardware. The only hardware needed by the laboratory is a Sonicwall VPN appliance. If the laboratory chooses to host the application,
LifePoint will supply a hardware requirement specification customized to the storage requirements of the organization.

The
LifePoint.WEB system can interface with any LIS system that can produce an electronic result file. Typically such files are based on the HL7 standard. Because LifePoint Informatics is LIS independent we have the ability to interface between different LIS vendors without bias.
Typically data is transferred from the sponsor lab’s LIS to the LifePoint Informatics via a secure Virtual Private Network (VPN) connection. If your lab does not have equipment capable of communicating over a VPN then LifePoint Informatics will supply a suitable VPN network appliance.
