What is the cost to the Physician?

The service is free to physicians through sponsorship of the LifePoint Informatics client laboratory.

What is the cost to the laboratory?

LifePoint Informatics charges a monthly subscription fee with a one-time setup fee and custom interface charge.

What kind of connection does the physician need?

A dialup connection to their own Internet Service Provider is all that is needed. Many of our clients also access the system through a network connection supplied by the hospital or laboratory.

Can anyone access the patient laboratory results?

The patient laboratory results can only be accessed by the physician(s) of record such as the ordering physician or consulting physician.

How long has LifePoint Informatics been in business?

We have been in business for over 10 years.

What kind of security is in place to protect the patient data?

The LifePoint.Web solution employs 128-bit encryption in order to ensure that the information cannot be access from unauthorized parities. We also utilize firewalls, VPNs, intrusion detection systems, and physical security methods to protect and secure all confidential patient data.

What hardware does the laboratory need to purchase?

LifePoint Informatics offers two models: Application Service Provider (ASP) and Hosted. Under the ASP delivery offering, LifePoint takes care of the hardware. The only hardware needed by the laboratory is a Sonicwall VPN appliance. If the laboratory chooses to host the application, LifePoint will supply a hardware requirement specification customized to the storage requirements of the organization.

How long does it take to get the product implemented?

LifePoint Informatics prides itself on delivering our quality products efficiently. The standard implementation and QA is based upon a 90 day plan. Once "live", end users can be added in a matter of minutes.

Are there banner ads?

There are no banner ads. The LifePoint Informatics solution is completely branded to the local laboratory "look and feel" without distractions.

Is the information sold to outside entities?

The information is protected and not sold to outside entities.

How does your system communicate with our LIS?

The LifePoint.WEB system can interface with any LIS system that can produce an electronic result file. Typically such files are based on the HL7 standard. Because LifePoint Informatics is LIS independent we have the ability to interface between different LIS vendors without bias.

How is data transferred from the lab systems to the LifePoint.WEB?

Typically data is transferred from the sponsor lab’s LIS to the LifePoint Informatics via a secure Virtual Private Network (VPN) connection. If your lab does not have equipment capable of communicating over a VPN then LifePoint Informatics will supply a suitable VPN network appliance.
